We are lucky to live under the Big Sky! Here in Glacier Country, summer is a season for celebration. For a few short months of the year, Montana reveals crystal clear alpine lakes and ice-cold rivers just barely warm enough to swim in. Snow melts off the rugged mountains allowing for a quick highline traverse. Meadows are filled with a dazzling display of wildflowers. The days grow long, and sunshine fills our souls and ripens Montana’s most treasured fruit -- huckleberries.

Our deep appreciation of these mountain summers inspired us to create Montana’s first huckleberry whiskey – and it was not an easy undertaking. Huckleberries refused to be domesticated, so the berries must be foraged in the wild. The most difficult part of picking huckleberries - other than avoiding bears, staying upright in the steep terrain, and countless hours bent over in awkward poses - is getting the purple little treasures into your basket without them falling into your mouth along the way!

Once we gathered enough berries, we had to find the perfect whiskey with which to match them. Our single malt whiskey distilled from golden Montana malt turned out to be – in hindsight – the obvious pairing. The sweet and tart flavors of the huckleberries paired perfectly with the warm vanilla and caramel notes of the smooth malt whiskey.

We are proud to introduce Bearproof, Montana’s first huckleberry whiskey and our newest spirit -- distilled and bottled right here in the mountains of Montana.

Now you don’t have to fight the bears to enjoy the sweet and tart taste of the mountains. (WARNING: Does not actually make you bear proof. 😉)
